Dr. Michael T. Shannon is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross (Worcester, Massachusetts) and Tufts University School of Dental Medicine (Boston, Massachusetts), with honors. Dr. Shannon completed both his internship and residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Barnes and Affiliated Hospitals, Washington University Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri in 1988. Following this, Dr. Shannon was selected for an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery fellowship at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, with a focus in pediatric facial trauma and pain management. He is also the author of several published papers in his specialty.
Upon successful completion of this fellowship, Dr. Shannon accepted an appointment as Associate Surgeon at the Geisinger Clinic in Danville, Pennsylvania, in 1989. He was also appointed Assistant Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1989, he established Northeast Oral Surgery and Dental Implant Center and remains its Managing Partner.
Dr. Shannon is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesia, American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and Merrimack Valley Dental Society. He has been certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Pediatric Life Support. He is a Senior staff surgeon at Lawrence General Hospital (Lawrence, Massachusetts).
His community involvement has included membership on the Board of Directors for the Lawrence Boys and Girls Club and Board of Overseers at Lawrence General Hospital. Dr. Shannon and his family reside in the Merrimack Valley area.
